About Copperhead Ranch

Giant the Horse

Our History

The land where Copperhead Ranch is located was originally purchased by Copper and Headlund Smith in the early 1830's. The original tract was a 20 acre property and was later combined with the neighboring land from Mark and Shirley Rooster for a total of a 450 acres. The ranch ran from the original Whistler Road to Rooster Crows Road and along Waterfalls Creek.

It originally consisted of 2 barns, a stable and a home built by the Smiths. The land was originally used to raise cattle and pigs, but was shut down during the great depression. Crops were then laid and the land became a very successful farm for several generations, producing and abundance of corn, wheat, tomatoes, and barley.

In 1951 a giant fire ravaged the land and completely destroyed everything in its path. In 1960 the land was sold and laid dormant for 20 years until our family purchased it with the hopes of reviving it.

During this time, the entire land was restored, replanted, and renovated. We built several pastures, barns, stables, a home home, and a very beautiful bed and breakfast. We even added fixed the creek and created our own pond! In 1999 we officially opened our doors to Copperhead Ranch and have been thriving since.

Our customers and clients come from all over the country and and from around the world! We have had 3 Presidents stay in our bed and breakfast, not to mention several famous celebrities and athletes!
